It's pool o'clock

One of the many perks of living on Deeringwood is being close to Uncle Dan & Aunt Liz! Ok, more like being close to their pool :) We went over on Sunday and enjoyed a few hours of swimming and eating. Summer has officially begun in the Moser house, Dave finished his last day of school on Monday. Let the summer fun begin!!

Yes, Katie is naked...Uncle Dan really loved that!! And she was a little distracted by Sarah's swimmies.

Sarah has become a pro in the pool. Super excited for her not to be afraid of the water anymore.

Thanks Dan & Liz for sharing your pool with us!

iPhone weekend

What a great weekend! Again, some great memories were made for the Moser family.

Took Katie and Sarah to the park. Sarah is an amazing big sister, she loves to push Katie in the swing. I'm pretty sure Katie enjoys it too!

Sarah and I went on a date. She said we had to get dressed up, she put on high heels, make-up and jewelry. Wendy's was her choice for dinner. We had a great time chatting over chicken nuggets and french fries.

I'm decorating a canvas bag with inspiration from a book I'm reading, 'Be A Circle Maker'. Amazing things can happen when you ask God!

This little cutie has so much hair! I've cut her bangs twice already so for church I gave her a little pebbles hairdo to keep the hair out of her eyes. And yes, that's a tootsie pop in her mouth! It was mine but she took it right out of my mouth and really enjoyed it.

The most exciting thing happened on Sunday...Dave played guitar with our worship band!!! That's him to the right of the girl singing. Dave started teaching himself to play about a year and a half ago and look where God has brought him in such a small amount of time. You go Davey!!

This was NOT what I wanted to see after leaving church. I was not paying attention to my speed but apparently this state trooper was, 30 miles over the speed limit to be exact! By the grace of God I did not get a ticket.

My little helper preparing chicken parmigiana for dinner. This was the first time I allowed her to handle raw chicken (I know, gross!), I'm pretty sure I'll be using her skills again.

Hope you enjoyed, thanks for stopping by!

In his footsteps

We moved in with Dave's grandma last fall. Dave's grandpa always had a vegetable garden in the backyard. Papa passed away in 2010 so this year Dave decided he wanted a garden of his own. I think Papa would be proud...

Asking and Believing

Hi friends! I attended a new bible study today. I'm asking the Lord to heal a friend of mine; removing the spirit of rebellion and replacing it with the spirit of Truth. Isn't it amazing how we can get some things so easily and quickly and others it can take what seems like an eternity?
If you can, please agree with me in this prayer.
Thank you!!

And, Happy Birthday to an amazing woman. Happy 40th Tete Moser!

Creative Stuff

Since being a SAHM (again), I have discovered a crafty side that I am in love with. I've been taking photos of my projects and wanted to share them with you. I've also included a link to where I found my inspiration, if applicable. Enjoy!

I painted this jewelry box for Miss Sarah at a local paint-on-pottery shop, I also enjoyed the company of Ms. Betty Leone while doing it.
Check out Blazed and Bedazzled here

Well hello rainbow cupcakes with cream cheese frosting! These were so fun to make and even better to eat.
I got the idea here, I used white cake instead of her red velvet recipe. The frosting comes from The Food Network found here.
I love Laura's blog and all of her great ideas!

A homemade spelling board for the girls! I loved this idea and had to make one of my own. All you need is a piece of sheet metal (I used a 2X2 from Lowes), wrapping paper, Mod Podge, Scrabble letters, magnet strips and a glue gun.
I followed these instructions from Laura

I donated some sugar cookies to Sarah's preschool class for their art show basket raffle. I love the bright colors! I found the bottles at Pat Catan's, I think they were intended for glue and paint but I thought they were the perfect size for decorating with frosting.

These cookies were for the director at St. Paul's preschool. She ordered the flower ones for the teachers as a thank you. The baseball cookies were for her grandson. First time making a baseball, I got better as I made more but didn't take photos of those.

Bills Place is rocking the sugar cookie sales! I've made a ton and they sell out in one day, just got a phone call to make more!

Isn't crafting and working with your hands fun?! I have a few more things to attempt and will update you with pictures. If you have other great ideas please pass them along.

Cheers!

What I know

I know...
that I'm a child of Christ
Jesus died on the cross for me
that I have two beautiful daughters
that I have a husband who loves me
that I am a lovable person
I have good intentions
I love being a SAHM
the goals I have set will be reached
I want to volunteer more
I am beautiful
I have paid the price for being materialistic
I am becoming more and more comfortable in my own skin
I want to have more close girlfriends
I am creative
the bible is my Truth
I am weak but He is strong

And, I know my daughter is slightly hilarious at 6 months old, this is how I found her one night when I went in to check on her...

A daughter's love

It happened last May. I was four months pregnant. I called my mom while sitting in a dark room, the topic of conversation was that we needed a break.

Growing up, my mom and I had a tumultuous relationship. When I reached adulthood, married and moved to North Carolina, I'd say I didn't like her very much. We talked often and she visited once a month. Our phone relationship was good but when she'd visit I would be stressed. My family moved back to Ohio and we were again close in proximity. Our superficial relationship continued for the next three years.

Telling my mom that we needed a break (yes, I actually used those words) was one of the hardest things I've ever had to say. God gave me the courage and strength and I knew this was something our relationship needed. I wasn't sure how long of a break we needed. Mom would call and talk to Sarah, she didn't want to lose any part of that relationship and I agreed. I probably spoke to her once a week, very light and casual, telling her how I was feeling (physically) and how the pregnancy was going.

I was in labor with Katie and my mom was driving in from Columbus (she moved there in 2010), she had worked that day and was getting to Youngstown as fast as she could. She arrived at the hospital while I was pushing, just in time to see Katie enter the world, even though Dave was the only one suppose to be in the room with me :)

We had a few "real" conversations during our break but nothing which led to healing or change. Until I gave birth to my second daughter. Something about being a mom, naturally draws you closer to your own mother. It may sound cliche, but it's so true! I asked my mom to stay with me that night in the hospital. It was an automatic, divine connection to her and we haven't been the same since.

Looking back, becoming a mom for the second time definitely helped me to appreciate and need my mother more. Even more, I believe our relationship is changing because I was able to be honest with her. I was honest with her in needing a break and setting boundaries until we were able to relate to each other in a healthy way. God gave us a renewed mother/daughter relationship.

I talk to my mom every day now. We share things with each other that we never did before. We have both made changes in ourselves which allows us to be comfortable with one another. I am so proud of her and so in love with her as my mother.

My mom was recently diagnosed with cancer. She goes in for surgery this Thursday. Because we became close and strong before her diagnosis, I can now be there for her because I want to be. God's timing is awesome!!
